The Division of Cardiac Surgery unites the entire range of modern cardiac surgery procedures with a commitment to education and research. We are a recognized educational institution in the field of cardiac surgery and the specialty area internal medicine and a cofounder of the University Heart Center. The primary goal of all the experts in our division is to provide patients with state-of-the-art medical treatment. That is why we highly value research and education.
In patient care, the focus is on surgical treatment of cardiac disease including mechanical cardiovascular and pulmonary support and preoperative and postoperative care for surgical patients. Other important responsibilities are decision-making consultations regarding surgery, risk assessment and the application of special interdisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
